ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES

 

Present at meeting: Ben and Laura Hooks, Steve Lowe, John and Kitty Springer, Dana and Sherry Adams, Chuck and Rhonda Brazell, Bob and Melissa Coker, Nat and Elizabeth Hart, Paul Lohr, Rich and Marie Munson, John and Jan Owens, Bob Pryor, Brit Ruby, C.D. Sharp, Rick and Dicksie Walker, Dave and Sheryl Olson, and Lynn Easley.

 

Call to order by Ben Hooks.

Special Announcement:

 

Rich Munson has been appointed to fill Dana Adams position on the board and along with Marie Munson will be handling the social duties with help from Dana and Sherry Adams.

Present Minutes from last meeting

 

The minutes were presented by Lynn Easley.

Motion to accept by Brit Ruby, seconded by Steve Lowe.

Financial Report

 

The financial report was presented by John Springer.

 

Receipts:

Receipts for 2017 were $2,470.00, which consists of current year dues from twenty-one members, $300.00 Regatta Receipts, and $20.00 proceeds from guests at a social event.

 

Disbursements:

 

Disbursements for 2017 were $3,304.35 for operations and $649.80 for capital items, resulting in total disbursements of $3,954.15. Disbursements for operations are as follows:

 

$1,336.97 Socials*.

$736.98 Regatta.

$385.00 Storage Locker at Lake Palestine Marina.

$244.83 Trophies.

$207.17 Equipment (Checks & Deposit Slips, Air Horns).

$159.40 Bur-gees.

$100.00 Slip Rental.

$80.00 Trailer Storage.

$54.00 P.O. Box Rent.

 

Note: Christmas Party expense estimated at $800.00.

 

Surplus:

 

For operations, disbursements exceeded receipts resulting in an operating deficit of $834.35.

 

General Comments:

 

The cash balance as of December 31, 2017 is $14,744.61. The cash balance one year ago was $17,181.05.

We have twenty-one dues paying members in 2017.

The cash balance as of December 14, 2017 is $15,789.44 vs. a budget of 15,218.05. The cash balance one year ago was $17,181.05

 

Motion to accept treasury report by Dicksie Walker, seconded by John Owens.

 

Old Business

Recognition of Club Members:

 

Ben Hooks recognized the contributions of several LPYC Members. Dana and Sherry Adams for organizing the social functions. John Springer for his cooking help at the various social functions, Steve Lowe for his contributions at the director meetings. John and Jan Owens for their assistance in remodeling the barge. Rich Munson for his work on improving the barge’s comfort level, Bob Pryor for his help with the Regatta. John Fabac for is use of his boat at the Regatta and Lynn Easley for maintaining the club’s website, Chuck Brazell for use of his boat to set the marks on the Wednesday night races, and Bob Coker for setting the marks on the Saturday races, and Jim Stevenson for keeping up with the scoring on the Saturday races.

 

Election of Directors and Officers

 

Ben Hooks asked if there were any nominations. There were no nominations from the floor or submitted prior to the meeting. Since all of the positions were uncontested, the members voted by acclamation to accept the directors and the board recommendations for officers.

For the year 2018, John Springer will be Commodore, Chuck Brazell with be Vice Commodore, John Springer will also continue as Treasury, and Lynn Easley will continue as Secretary. The following members will also serve as directors, Rich Munson will handle the social duties and Steve Lowe will serve as a director.

Ben Hooks then turned the gavel over to John Springer.

 

New Business

Introduce New Members:

 

John Springer introduced the new members that have joined the club in 2018, Dave and Sheryl Olson, Hector Ceccoli, and Paul Lohr.

Present Awards for 2017:

 

For the Saturday Race Series, John Springer read a statement from Jim Stevenson. High winds at the beginning of the series, and light winds at the end of the series presented challenges to the races, and limited turnout this year. The winner of the 2017 year series was a tie between Bob Coker and Terry Sartors. John Springer presented Bob Coker with a hand painted glass trophy.

 

The Fall Regatta took place on a cold windy weekend. Despite the conditions, six boats started the race. John Springer presented awards to Ben Hooks for 1st Place, Chuck Brazell for 2nd Place, and Bob Coker took 3rd place.

John Springer then presented Ben Hooks with a framed LPYC Bur-gee for his service as Commodore.

Review 2018 Events Calendar:

 

The social calendar for the 2018 year was reviewed. It consists of at least four food provided events. The Annual meeting, “Cheeseburger in Paradise” dock party, Fall Regatta and dock party, and the Christmas party. There will be ten Saturday race series, and 10 Wednesday night series races. Also included are the monthly director meetings.

Announce Open Director Position:

 

There is open director position that remains unfilled. The members were asked if anyone would volunteer to fill that position for the remainder of the term. Rick Walker volunteered to fill the position and was appointed by the board.

Update Members Contact Information:

 

Rich Munson asked members if they would update their contact information and email it to him. This will help him to keep the members updated on the club’s activities .
