Reports from Committees and Directors:

Lynn Easley was asked by a member about posting a sailboat ad on the website from a non-member. This particular boat has since been sold. There were no objections from the directors, and I’ll be looking in to add a classified section on the website for the local area.

Rick Walker thanked all the members that volunteer their time and money in support the the club. He also suggested the club should promote itself to non-boat owners. Some of the suggestions offered was brochures that would be available at local businesses, and teaming up or co-sponsoring with various lake events. Also involving the various news media companies, and local newsletters in upcoming events. Will check on prices for some simple brochures, and one such activity is a Special Olympics event that is held on the lake.

Old Business

Fall Regatta Preparations:

Dana and Sherry Adams will handle the food, John Springer will handle the the paperwork. Things that are still needed for the event are air horns, Buoys, a timer, and at least two persons to run the races from the committee boat. Rick Walker has extra air horns available. The two buoys used in the Saturday races can be used for the event. Rich Munson said that Marie Munson could help on the committee boat after some training on the event. Rich Munson suggested that participants note which foods they like or can’t eat for the breakfast and lunch parts of the regatta. Marie Munson would also like to provide a carved watermelon full of fruit for the breakfast meals in addition to the other items.

Slip Waiting List:

No changes to the slip waiting list.

New Business

No Wake Buoys:

One of the no-wake buoys in front of the marina has gone missing. Rich Munson has inquired with the lake authority on rules and placement of buoys, and with the Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens on enforcement of the no wake signs. He also plans to attend the next meeting of the Upper Neches Lake Authority. John Springer volunteered to attend also.

Chain Gate at Sailboat Docks:

One of the members had a complaint raised about a large group of people at the end of the dock interfering with access to the boats. Some of the directors have seen this issue, others haven’t run into it. It was noted that many marinas limit access boat owners only to the dock where their boat is in a slip..

Barge Trailer Storage:

The club is needing to find a new place to store the barge trailer. Rick Walker offered a place at his shop. John Springer will coordinate with Rick on getting it moved to it's new location..

Barge Cleanup and Repairs:

Rich Munson suggested a barge cleanup and spruce up event before the Cheese Burger in Paradise dock party. The repairs suggested were new coatings for the deck and the furniture, and possibly a new umbrella support for the chef. Rick Walker suggested using old sails as shade for the dock and barge. The work party is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, May 19th, from 9:00 am till noon.

Upcoming Events:

Wednesday night sailing on May 16th.

Barge cleanup on Saturday morning May 19th.

The 4th Saturday Race Series the afternoon of May 19th.

And the “Cheeseburger in Paradise Dock party on May 26th. Marie Munson also suggested bringing their favorite dish or dessert for the dock party. It was also suggested scheduling the March third Fridays social events at the Purple Pig in remembrance of Bob Pryor.

Next Director Meeting:

The next meeting will be held at Clear Springs Restaurant at noon, on Wednesday, June 13th..
