Greetings LPYC members & friends!

Thanks to everybody who came to our annual meeting @ Clear Springs.  It was a great gathering, although we did hurry through the meeting.  We missed some of you, but hopefully you will be able to attend some other functions this year, and there will be plenty of opportunities.  Here are some of the upcoming events:

·         Third Friday dinner get-togethers planned by Dana & Sherry

·         Race Series headed up by Jim Stevenson

.   After race cool down @ Bob Coker’s place

(hopefully, since several of us have volunteered him…he will continue the hospitality!)

·         Dock parties

.   Maybe Dicksie’s & my boat house will be ready later this year

·         Raft ups

·         More

We are continuing to strive toward having a place for the LPYC.  As I mentioned at the meeting, your participation is key to making our club work, and we are doing well….using other peoples’ places.

It can happen!  Here is part of an article from another yacht club:

Club house report: It’s official! The Edmonds Yacht Club

has finally closed on a loan from Prime Pacific Bank to build our new clubhouse.

Expect to see the construction to begin sometime around the middle of this month. It

has been a long and arduous project beginning with casual conversations many years

ago. With the support of all of our membership we were able to negotiate a lease with

the Port, a loan with the bank, and a long term lease with NPI, and a construction

contract with Halverson Construction.

Watch your emails, and make plans to participate!  Go to the LPYC website to see all the latest on meetings & past events.  Lake Palestine Yacht Club

Here’s to seeing on the water!

Term for the day:  Scuttlebutt -
A butt was a large barrel. Scuttle meant to chop a hole in something. The scuttlebutt was a water barrel with a hole cut into it so that sailors could reach in and dip out drinking water. The scuttlebutt was the place where the ship's gossip was exchanged.
