Old Business

Barge update and next barge work day:

The next barge work day is scheduled for October 15th, starting around 9 am till whenever. Benches and tables are among the projects scheduled.

Christmas Boat Parade:

The Christmas boat parade is scheduled for December 17th starting around dark, and the route will be from Lake Palestine Marina around to Emerald Bay. Ben Hooks, Steve Lowe and Dana Adams have committed to the event, and Rick Walker will help coordinate with boaters around Emerald Bay that wish to participate.

Links to other websites:

Discussed having various marinas and boat dealers participate in an link exchange with the LPYC website. A banner link pointing to their website, in exchange for a banner link pointing to the LPYC website.

Potential new members:

Steve Lowe challenged the directors to come up with possible new members, and noted that there many boats and sailboats on the lake. Ben Hooks suggested asking people to crew on the races, and Dana Adams has some people that are interested in sailing and plans to take them out sailing.

Upcoming social activities:

The directors that attended the last gathering at the Sonoma Grill thought it was a good place and should be used again.

The overnight raft up was canceled as there were no members expressing interest.

The next upcoming event is the dock party at Lake Palestine Marina on Oct 21.

The 3rd Friday social for November will be held at Jule's in Tyler.

The Christmas party will be held at Eagle's Nest Bluff on December 10th. Estimated cost of providing the meal would be $26 per person.

The annual meeting will be held on the third Saturday of January, location to be determined.

Race Committee updates:

With one race remaining for this year, the debate on awarding points to non-members is unresolved.

Ben Hooks presented his ideas for the LPYC Regatta. It would consist of a 2 day event with a skippers meeting in the morning, followed by two races that day. The second day would have another race, and a dinner that evening. Two possible courses could be planned, depending on the wind. It would also have to be scheduled on a weekend that doesn't conflict with other local clubs. It would be based on PHRF or possibly another handicapping system for sailboats. It's tentatively scheduled for April 22, 23 2017

Also suggested was a Wednesday afternoon/evening race series.

Director Openings for 2017:

Directors John Springer, and Ben Hooks positions are up for election for 2017. Steve Lowe suggested that we thinking ahead to that.

Next Years Billing Statements:

It is hoped that the billing statements can be sent out before the Annual meeting so the Annual meeting reflects current members. Also up for consideration is the amount of the annual dues. Does the club want to maintain low dues to encourage new members, or raise rates in hopes of doing more next year.

LPYC Signs:

Dana Adams currently has the old Emerald Bay signs. He will inspect an photograph them to see what needs to be done to get them ready. Possible places to place them would be on the sign poles at the Lake Palestine Marina, on the fence next to the gate to the marina, on the fuel sign on the dock, and on the LPYC barge. Of course most of those locations would require approval from the marina.
