Old Business

Barge Insurance:

No change on status of barge insurance.

Barge Cushions:

Unless a cheaper price can be found, it was decided the cost wouldn’t be worth it to re-cut and recover the seat cushions. Throw-able flotation cushions could be used if necessary.

For the upcoming dock parties, a set of bumpers for the barge would be necessary to bring the barge in next to the dock, and for any other boat to tie up to it. Six large bumpers would be needed for the barge. After some quick on line shopping comparisons, a motion was proposed to buy 6 bumpers for the barge by Ben Hooks. Steve Lowe seconded the motion.

LPYC Signs:

Ben Hooks passed around a picture of the old Emerald Bay sign that he has. It’s a bit rough looking, and made with pretty flimsy metal, so it would have to be mounted to something. He also proposed masking off the Emerald Bay part of the sign and painting over it as an inexpensive way to make it usable at our current location. Dana Adams also has two signs that are slightly smaller and may work mounted on the entrance fence. He will take pictures or bring them to the next meeting.

New Member Ben:

Ben Hooks will contact Bob Coker on a possible new member that had expressed interest in joining the club, but hasn’t been heard from.

Wednesday Night Races:

LPYC will start having Wednesday night races every week starting on Wednesday March 22. It will consist of a three leg short race in Saline Bay not far from Lake Palestine Marina. With no winners, or losers, or protests, it will be a for fun training race. Participants will meet at the Dock at 6:00 pm, race will start at 6:30 pm, and the race will be over at 7:30 pm allowing time to gather after the race on the dock. Ben Hooks has acquired most of the equipment for three mooring type buoys that will be easy to set and retrieve. Ben Hooks will send out an email with the details.

Committee Meeting Update:

The Regatta Committee had their first meeting. Bob Pryor will handle the role of Race Captain, John Fabec will help with setting up the markers and other tasks. Harley Wilke help out with towing any boats that need it and ferrying photographers. Dana Adams will organize the dock party and John Springer will help with the cooking.

The race will consist of three legs of a total length of three miles and will be set up depending on the wind conditions.

The entry fee will be set at $25.00 per boat to help cover some of the costs of the events. It is expected to also help to reimburse gas usage during the event.

Registration form and release forms are still needing to be created. The registration form will also record the sail inventory on board the boat that will be used in assigning the boat rating.

New Business

Next Committee Meeting for Spring Fling Regatta:

The next Regatta Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 22, with meetings expected every other Wednesday up to the April Regatta.

Additional New Business:

Chuck Brazell asked when the water will be turned back on, and also about moving the no wake buoys out further. On the water, Brad will be contacted and asked as the chance of a hard freeze should be over. Someone should be able to raise the no wake buoy and move them out further. There used to another one but it either floated away or was stolen.
