Officer and Director Reports.

John Springer – Still have 5 caps to sell or use as prizes.

Rich Munson – Passed out a handout to address several upcoming social events.

Third Friday Social for October – With the Regatta being moved to November, L.P.Y.C. will move the November Third Friday event to October to fill the vacancy. Suggestions were made for the October venue. The original venue for November was Lago Del Pino, a scenic location, not so great on other things. Other locations discussed were the current location T.M.H., and The 1836 House. The directors settled on The 1836 House location.

Meals for the Regatta – Decided to go with Jason’s Deli again for the noon lunches, and will make sure they understand 7 AM, and not 7 PM. For breakfast it will be donuts and apples as there were not many takers on the bananas and oranges. Also no reason in fixing pot of coffee as most people brought their own. Marie and Rich handle the breakfast and lunches, and will bring the fixings for dinner and John Springer will cook brats.

Christmas Dinner Party – With a lot of leftovers at the last Christmas Party, the club will only buy enough dinners for those who commit to coming, with maybe one or two extra dinners.

Annual Meeting – Location still to be decided whether to have it again at Emerald Bay or another location. It has been suggested for an out of town meeting possibly where ex-member Paul Lohr keeps his paddle boat. John Springer will send out an email later to gauge interest.

Local News Stations – Rich Munson also contacted several local television stations to inquire on their interest in covering one of our local events as a community interest segment.

Old Business

Slip Waiting List:

Jeremy Bogan is on record for getting the next available slip at the marina. Will also be adding Mike Jeter to the list.

New Business

Establish Regatta Committee :

With the Regatta scheduled for November 2nd, volunteers are needed for the various functions, here are the current volunteers.

John Springer will send out the notices for the event.

Chuck Brazell with set out the buoys marking the course.

Ben Hooks will handle the Skippers meeting.

Ben Hooks and Steve Lowe will man the committee boat. John will check with Dana Adams to see if they can use the pontoon boat again this year.

John Springer will check with John Fabac to see if he is available to handle the chase boat again.

John Springer will handle the scoring the event.

For prizes, it was suggested to present practical items such as an LED anchor light and fenders and dock lines.

Rich and Marie will handle the Continental breakfast and lunch meals, and John Springer will handle chef’s duties for dinner.

It was also suggested generic L.P.Y.C. Logo T-shirts for the entrants. Having too many t-shirts left over is a continuing issue.

The entrance fee will remain the same as last year at $25.

Generate Interest in Club Activities:

Interest wanes during the summer months with many members gone on summer vacations. The question is should we continue having them during June, July, and August? Dock parties tend to be well attended events, so one suggestion other clubs sometimes do is called Hot dogs with the Commodore. It is an inexpensive way to get people out and to visit their boats and socialize. The question of what events are the members interested in will be asked at the annual meeting.

Upcoming Social Events:

The next third Friday social will be held at the 1836 House on October 18th, at 6:00 pm.

The last Saturday Race series is scheduled for October 19th, and the LPYC Regatta is scheduled for November 2nd. Also planned are the Wednesday night races on October 16th, 23rd, and October 30th.

Also planned is Hot Dogs with the Commodore cookout on Oct 26th.

Date and Time of Next Meeting:

The next meeting is scheduled for November 13th at Coyote Sam’s / Texas Music House at 12:00 noon.
