New Business

Fall Regatta:

Most of the people that would participate will be unavailable, and with the current situation, wasn’t much interest this year. Hopefully next year things will be better.

Christmas Party:

Ben Hooks has volunteered the use of his place to save on the cost of renting a location. Ben Hooks says masks would be required, except when eating. Rich Munson provided cost estimates from Mercardo’s on catering, and prices on renting different sizes of tables. Prices per plate would run between $25 and $34 per plate depending on how many people would end up attending. Ben Hooks suggested adding the cost in for two employees, that would handle all the setup and cleanup.

It was suggested to send out an email to gauge interest in the Christmas Party. But with participation down the last few years, it was suggested to maybe combine the Christmas party and the Annual Meeting currently scheduled for the third Saturday in January. The thinking was with the Covid situation, and general lack of participation this year, having two events only a month apart could be a problem. Initially discussed having the Annual Meeting at the Christmas party, but Steve Lowe suggested it would be better to keep the Annual Meeting in January. The reduced timescale would be a problem for nominating and recruiting directors and officers. In addition, many people have much busier schedules right before Christmas, so the after the holidays would be easier for people to attend. It would also be good to have some kind of program for the meeting. Rick Walker will reach out to Ross Hayes to see if he would be willing.

Upcoming Events:

The Steve Herber Memorial Turkey race was originally scheduled for November 24, but being so close to the Thanksgiving weekend, and with several people unable to attend, they even was moved to November 14. The race would start at Noon, and run from off the docks of Lake Palestine Marina, and down to the old Emerald Bay inlet and back. It is planned to cook up hamburgers and hot dogs after the race. An overnight at the dock is also planned for those who want to spend the night on their boats.

John Springer is also planning to celebrate the 50th birthday of his Morgan 28 at a to be determined future event.
